Chinese Astrology. I Ching. Feng Shui. Explained.

The 12 Earthly Branches. Chinese Zodiac Animals.

In the Chinese calendar, the Year, Month, Day and Hour each is composed of a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch.

The Heavenly Stem symbolizes the influence of the Year, Month, Day or Hour from the Earth.

The Earthly Branches is what we commonly understand as the Chinese Zodiac Animals. There are 12 Earthly Branches, which makes up the Chinese Zodiac Calendar cycle. When we say someone is born in the year of the Rat, we are referring to the Earthly branch of the birth year of that individual.

Thus taking into account only the birth Year Branch is not a concise method of astrology. This is because every birth makes up the Four Pillars. The Four Pillars has 8 components. Thus using only the Earthly Branch provides for less than an eighth of the information required to perform and astrological natal reading.
