How to use your Feng Shui Kua Number

Your Feng Shui Kua Number (or Ming Qua) represents the Qi which best describes your person in terms of Feng Shui. This number has an assigned "element" which is actually a one of the five phases in the Five Element Theory.

In Feng Shui there are nine Flying Stars, eight of which is represented by a trigram.

Feng Shui Kua Number is actually one of the eight trigrams. Knowing this allows the individual to measure his personal Qi relative to his environment.

It is important to understand that the Ming Qua is only useful for use in Feng Shui, and has no numerological or astrological value. This means that while the qua number can indicate how strongly the Feng Shui stars can, adversely or positively, affect a person, it is a unreliable tool for anything else, like finding lucky numbers, etc. This is because things like "lucky numbers" is not part of the physical environment and hence has nothing to do with Feng Shui.

For thorough fate analysis, use Zi Wei Dou Shu or the Four Pillars.

So, you know your Feng Shui Kua Number, how do you use it?

Here are the steps:

  1. Calculate your Qua number.

  2. Identify the elemental property of this number.

  3. Make a Feng Shui Map of your home and/or workplace using the information in this section.

  4. Compare the flying stars of rooms in the home with your Ming Qua and analyse the interaction between these stars and yourself.

Usefulness of this information

Knowing the Feng Shui of a home and personal Qua numbers of its occupants is extremely useful for maximizing the luck potential of each individual using Feng Shui.

In assigning bedrooms, look out for the Mountain stars. The Mountain Stars are affect health and relationships and are effective in quite rooms like bedrooms. Ideally, the Mountain star should be an element that generates or supports the element of the Ming Qua.

In Study or work areas, look out for the Water stars, as these play a role in active rooms in the house, affecting wealth, learning and authority. Use the areas of the home with auspicious and timely water stars where possible. If a particular corner for study has not an auspicious star, but an untimely star, people with ming qua that is controlled by that water star should not sit there.

Use color to enhance the auspicious and drain the inauspicious energies. This does not necessary mean the color of one's attire, but it can help. Use colors that support or generate your Ming Qua, by referring to the properties of the stars and this section on Feng Shui Colors.

Using the Ming Qua to assign individual space in a home is really a fine-tuning step in Feng Shui. Good Feng Shui Practices can go long way to establishing a life time of prosperity.
